that's the rule: and Andrea Scarabelli, ex skipper of Riviera di Rimini, has kept this saying in mind in selecting the '99 crew. There have been some modifications but the basic framework of the group has remained the same. Himself, always serious and professional, Stefano (master of Riviera and today also skipper) and Alan (project leader) are the "pillars".

The others are their faithful fellow-adventurers: from wise Alessandro to exuberant Silvio, the fearless brothers Francesco and Stefano, practical Giuliano, muscular Piero, nice guy Raffaele, globetrotter Carlo and oceanic Andrea S.

Then there's the group of top athletes, candidates for Sydney 2000, who come under the highly talented Paolo: concrete Piero, lively Francesco and vigorous Fernando, who brought aboard the world's best Soling yachtsmen, meaning the Dutchmen Dirk (known as Cheese because he's very fond of it) and Peter. New entries to the group are the Frenchman Jeff, Gerry, Giorgio and Marino from Trieste. Irish Joe is by now Alan's right hand man, while Robertone was providential in the Round Europe.

Then there are the less "assiduous" but no less precious ones, starting with champion Paolo Montefusco and Claudio (a.k.a. Toro) from Rimini.
United and working well together: this may be the team's 'secret'.
